This was captured June 30, 2007. Happened to take my camera with me to check out a good friend Salim Washington playing with Ahmed Abdullah's Diaspora (Dispersions of Ra) when the friend I was with Tkweme, Salim's best friend, asked Ahmed could I capture while there which was unbeknown to me. When told that I could capture was certainly thankful for the opportunity and captured some great moments. Check out how D D Jackson opens this tune with intensity and control and the stately solo from the leader Ahmed and then how the vocals flow right in and then finishing up with an incredible solo from Salim. Give thanks for moments captured and not just sitting in memory banks. Right on!
